The brief
A large-scale developer conference in Cologne needed badge printing capable of handling high-volume registration across the main event, plus a separate pre-registration event for VIP attendees at the hotel the day before.
Attendee data also needed to connect directly with the organiser's existing event registration platform, rather than running as a separate system.
The approach
We deployed 12 full colour badge printers to cover registration at the scale the conference demanded, allowing badges to be produced on demand with full colour-coding across a large and varied attendee base.
Ahead of the main event, we ran a dedicated pre-registration event at the hotel the day before, allowing VIP attendees to check in and collect their badges early — avoiding the main registration queue entirely on the first morning of the show.
Throughout, our system integrated directly with the organiser's existing third-party event registration platform, so attendee data captured through their existing sign-up process fed straight into badge printing, without needing to migrate to a new system or reconcile two separate attendee lists.
Why this approach worked
At the scale of a large international developer conference, registration bottlenecks are the first thing attendees notice and the last thing organisers want. Deploying enough printers to match true attendee volume, combined with a separate VIP pre-registration route, took pressure off the main entrance from the moment doors opened.
Integrating with the organiser's existing registration platform meant none of that came at the cost of switching systems — attendee data flowed straight through to badge printing, keeping one consistent record from sign-up to badge in hand.
